Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.
I have been in the dance world since I can remember and in fact, a professional dancer today.
For me, Pilates was always an interesting "thing" that called my attention and after each practice, I realized how good it felt.
As soon as I began my educational journey, I realized how little "proper" Pilates I had done! It was quite frustrating and yet really interesting at the same time. In my classes, I try to give the information that I found very important for the correct execution of the exercices and I felt missing in my experience as a client. That is the reason why I love to teach it today.
I like to see how a Pilates class calls for my full awareness and presence.
It changes the dimension of your practice If you are fully involved.
As I understand it, Pilates is an amazing way to build a healthy body where pain will no longer have a place in your daily life.
It is a full mind-body connection since it requires attention to details that make a huge difference in your practice.
Isn't it fascinating?!
WHY PILATES SEED?
What does a seed need to grow? Very little. Just soil, sun and water. Then it grows and grows, tall and strong. I wanted to take this idea to give you an image that when including Pilates in your life (your soil, sun and your water), you can also grow tall and strong.
At the same time, it is my intention to provide the Pilates "seed" for you, and hopefully you will cultivate and care for it along your life.
He was born in Germany, 1883.
His father was an enthusiastic gymnast who introduced him into the world of gymnastics as well as martial arts.
Since he was a kid, he was constantly sick with Asthma, Rickets and Rheumatic Fiber.
His illnesses were the reasons why he spent his entire life trying to improve his health.
During his lifetime, Joe named his method Contrology. It was only after his death that it became known as Pilates.
The method was designed to train the entire body, focusing on core postural muscles that will keep the balance of the physique and provide that necessary support to the spine.
Joseph had never seen his practice as just a bunch of "exersices", but more of a holistic approach to total health.
A man is as young as his spinal column.
If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old; if it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.
Concentrate on the correct movement each time you exercise, lest you do them improperly and thus lose all vital benefits.
Correctly executed to the point of subconscious reaction, these exercises will reflect grace and balance in your routine activities.
